About the Seminar

A Transformative
Bible Study Framework

The Living Word is a comprehensive 12-week program designed to equip Filipino Christian believers at every stage of spiritual maturity to know God deeply through His attributes, character, and abiding presence. Rooted in the rich tradition of evangelical Filipino church life, this seminar draws from real Bible study sessions that demonstrated the hunger of Filipino believers to encounter God not merely intellectually, but relationally and transformationally.

At the heart of this framework lies the SOAP inductive Bible study method — Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer — a systematic yet accessible approach that guides participants from textual engagement to personal obedience.

Built upon the 4-Pillar Architecture — Encounter, Exegesis, Examination, and Expression — the seminar mirrors the natural rhythm of spiritual growth. Each 90-minute session moves participants from corporate worship through deep textual study, into personal application and accountability, and finally out into missional expression, ensuring head knowledge is consistently translated into heart transformation.

Encounter

20 minutes

Opening Movement

Genuine Bible study begins with an orientation of the heart toward God. Before any intellectual engagement with the text, participants are invited into the presence of God through worship, prayer, and testimony. This deliberate theological act acknowledges that the Holy Spirit is the primary teacher and illuminator of Scripture.

II

Exegesis

35 minutes

Deep Dive

The intellectual center of the session where participants engage directly with the biblical text using the inductive SOAP method. This pillar prioritizes the authority of Scripture over human opinion, training participants to observe what the text actually says before rushing to application.

III

Examination

20 minutes

Personal Application

Moving from mind to heart, creating space for the Holy Spirit to apply truth to each participant's unique life circumstances. The SOAP method's Application and Prayer steps come alive in small groups of 3-4, providing the intimacy necessary for honest self-examination and accountability.

IV

Expression

15 minutes

Commissioning

Sending participants out with purpose, connecting the inward work to outward kingdom impact. Bible study does not become an end in itself but a catalyst for mission and service. This commissioning is the natural overflow of transformed hearts.

Core
Methodology

011 Corinthians 2:14

Spirit-Dependence

Every session explicitly invites the Holy Spirit's illumination through prayer, deliberately avoiding purely academic study that relies on human intellect alone. The Bible is a spiritual book requiring spiritual discernment.

022 Timothy 3:16

Text-Centered Authority

Scripture remains the authoritative voice of God in every session. Commentary and cultural insight serve the text rather than substituting for it. Participants ask "What does the text say?" before consulting secondary sources.

03Psalm 119:18

SOAP Inductive Method

Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer — a systematic yet accessible framework for personal Bible engagement. Its power lies in simplicity and comprehensiveness, beginning with the text and returning to God in dependence.

04James 1:22

Whole-Life Integration

Aligning Head (knowledge), Heart (affection), and Hands (obedient action) ensures holistic discipleship. The 4-Pillar Architecture engages all three dimensions, guarding against purely informational, emotional, or activism-driven study.

05Acts 2:42

Communal Discernment

Learning in small group dialogue rather than monologue. Participants observe, question, and discover truth together, reflecting the New Testament pattern where every voice matters. Filipino "bayanihan" culture amplifies this value.

062 Timothy 2:2

Multiplication-Minded

Every participant is equipped to lead others in the same SOAP pattern. By Week 12, at least 30% should have facilitated a session, with pathways to launch new study groups — creating catalytic movement for church-wide disciple-making.
